The principles are; theprinciple of reciprocation, the principle of commitment and consistency, the principle of socialproof, the principle of liking, principle of authority and the principle of scarcity (Cialdini, 2001).All the principles are discussed below and an illustration of each. The principles are veryimportant in the business especially in marketing and they make business people earn a lot.Principle of ReciprocityMost people will pay back what they have received from others. People have anobligation to repay since they feel indebted to the individual who does something for them orgives them a gift. A good illustration of the principle of reciprocation is illustrated by Amazon,which provides e-book samples for Kindle(Green, et al., 2016). Amazon sells a selection ofbooks, which are amazing for their apps and Kindle devices. Customers can choose to downloadfree samples of eBooks, which account for the first 10% of the book. A person can retain the freee-books as long as they can until they can buy the full e-book. This encourages most of thepeople, and they end up purchasing e-books from Amazon.The principle of consistencyIn this principle, marketers or business should stick to what they have already chosen forconvenience. Customer’s loyalty is earned through making them commit to something, whichcan be either identity, statement or even stand. Most people hate back out of deals hence theyfollow the pre-existing attitudes, actions, and values. A good illustration is running in a contestsuch as New Rock City (Green, et al., 2016).
